About

FundRank Global lists the largest private-capital managers by the regulatory assets under management they report to the SEC on Form ADV.

Seven lists

There are seven lists: private equity, private credit, venture capital, growth equity, hedge funds, real assets and infrastructure, and secondaries and fund-of-funds. Each list names the ten largest firms. More firms meet the standard than the ten we name. The full count is on that list’s page.

The figure

The figure is the adviser’s regulatory assets. It is not the size of a single fund, and it is not a measure of investment performance. Banks, brokerages, index managers, and wealth advisers are left off, because their assets are deposits, custody, or mutual-fund holdings. Family offices are left off because those figures are reported to a commercial list, not to a regulator.

How a firm is placed

A firm is placed by the strategy it is known for. If one manager files more than one entity, the list shows it once, at the largest filing. A firm on more than one list keeps a separate assets figure for each list. We link to a firm’s own website only after checking that the address answers. If we cannot confirm it, we show no link.

The month in the header is when the page was published. It is not the date of each filing.
